Okay, so there's a bit of a story here.
Once upon a time there was a single player mod file for DayZ written by a chap named Kronzky. It was pretty good and added a whole new dimension to playing DayZ. Sadly, for various reasons Kronzky and Rocket (the DayZ developer) fell out and they both decided that the file should be discontinued.
And here we are at the present day. Kronzky's DayZ single player has gone and it's not coming back. Rocket has said there will be a single player mode in the DayZ standalone, whenever that's released. Although there is a planned release of the standalone around the end of 2012, this is only going to be an alpha version and will lack many key features. So it might be a long wait for an official single player.
At this point, a new character enters our story. And this mysterious chap (if indeed it is a chap) has no name. But he's created a whole new single player mode for DayZ and he calls it... DaiZy.

Before we start
This guide presumes you already have DayZ installed. If you don't, follow the guide linked to in the yellow box above. This version of single player will work with all the latest releases of DayZ - you do not need to downgrade.
There are videos out there on YouTube that explain how to get single player working with DayZ. Most of them are referring to the original Kronzky single player file (which only worked up to DayZ version 1.7.2.5). So most of those videos are concerned with downgrading your version of DayZ. This version, DaiZy, works with the latest version of DayZ (1.7.5.1 at the time of writing). So please start with that, not an earlier version of DayZ.
If you're using the Six Play / Play with Six launcher, it will put your DayZ files in a folder located within My Documents. I caution against using Six because of this. Every other launcher and installer places the DayZ files within the Operation Arrowhead program folder.
If you're using Six, please download and use DayZ Commander instead. If you insist on using Six, you're on your own when it comes to finding the folder where the DayZ files are stored and you'll have complications when creating a shortcut.
http://www.dayzcommander.com/
By installing DaiZy, you are over-writing some of the DayZ files and will not be able to play online multiplayer. I recommend backing up your DayZ mod files folder first so you can easily swap the files back and forth when you want to play multiplayer.

Where to get it
This is a link to a set of files and folders on Mediafire. Click the link to go there.
http://www.mediafire.com/?4ro7ui087s2ca
These are the folders in which the files are stored.
ArmA II (Faces) contains a set of face images. These are textures/skins for changing the way your character looks. They only work in certain circumstances and I'm not going to go into how they are used. Use them if you know what they are
DaiZy+ (Maps) contains the main files needed to play single player on a series of maps. Online vanilla DayZ uses the Chernarus map.
DaiZy+ (Private) contains files that aren't ready for release, so don't bother looking in there.
DaiZy+ (Releases) contains files that you need to patch DayZ so it will work with single player
DaiZy+ (Screenshots) contains uh... screenshots
DaiZy+.png is the logo file
Readme!.txt explains the structure of the folders, like I'm doing here.
1. Go into DaiZy+ (Releases) and you'll see two other folders:
- latest is the latest version of DaiZy which works with v042 maps.
- legacy contains older versions of DaiZy which works with v038b, v040 and 041 maps
2. Go into the latest folder. Click the DaiZy+_v[Rz0].rar file to download it.
3. Go to the DaiZy+ (Maps) folder
4. Go into the folder marked v042c for v1.7.2.6 [RL] & v[Rz0]
5. Download the file called DaiZy_v042c.Chernarus.pbo
Right. You've got both files that you need. We're finished downloading.
How to install it

1. Open the DaiZy+_v[Rz0].rar file you've just downloaded. I'm using WinRar. You may be using something different. Extract the files to a temporary folder

2. Go to your Operation Arrowhead program folder. Depending on from where you've got Operation Arrowhead the location may be in one of several places.
If you got it from Steam, it's most likely in:
C:\Program files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\arma 2 operation arrowheadIf you used a boxed retail copy, it's most likely in:
C:\Program files (x86)\Bohemia Interactive\arma 2 operation arrowheadInside there is a folder called @DayZ and inside that is another folder called addons where the actual files from DayZ are stored. Check the image above to make sure.
Create a new folder called @DaiZy. Copy the addons from the @DayZ folder to this new folder. Take the files you've just extracted and place them in the @DaiZy\addons folder, over-writing the files inside.
DayZ disables the single player menu and these files will re-enable it as well as provide access to extra features.
3. Go to your Operation Arrowhead program folder and locate the Missions sub-folder. Take the map file you've downloaded and place it in that folder.
Done that? Good. You've installed all the files.

Creating a shortcut
If you're using a launcher (like DayZ Commander) to launch DayZ, I'd suggest creating a shortcut in order to play single player. The launchers are great, but they're not designed for offline play. This is how to create a shortcut.
Inside your Operation Arrowhead folder is an icon marked Launch Arma2 OA Beta Patch. Right click on this icon and select Properties.
There are two lines that matter. The Target line should read something like:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\arma 2 operation arrowhead\Expansion\beta\arma2oa.exe" -beta=Expansion\beta;Expansion\beta\Expansion -nosplash
This is presuming that you're using Steam and that Steam is installed in the default location on your C drive and you're using Windows 7 64 bit. It will have a different path if you have it installed elsewhere. You need to modify the target line to say something like this:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\arma 2 operation arrowhead\Expansion\beta\arma2oa.exe" -beta=Expansion\beta;Expansion\beta\Expansion -nosplash -skipIntro -mod=@DaiZy
If you're not using Steam or you have Steam installed in a different location the line will reflect where you have the game installed.
For the "Start in" line, make sure it says:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\arma 2 operation arrowhead\
Or again, wherever your Steam folder or game folder actually is. Make sure that it points to the main Operation Arrowhead folder and not to the beta folder. Yeah, it's running the exe from the beta folder, but it's running it in the main folder as that's where all the rest of the files are.
Copy this shortcut to your Desktop or some other place from which you'll want to run the game. The shortcut in the Operation Arrowhead folder will get over-written every time you update the beta patch, so do not rely on using that one.
Copy this shortcut to your Desktop or some other place from which you'll want to run the game. The shortcut in the Operation Arrowhead folder will get over-written every time you update the beta patch, so do not rely on using that one.
How to run it
Fire up DayZ as normal and select Singleplayer for a change.
Choose Scenarios now.
![]() |
Select the DaiZy_v042.Chernarus file. Note at the bottom left of the screen is a box that probably says Recruit. This is the difficulty level. Click it until it displays the difficulty you'd like. There's little difference between the difficulty levels, but the highest difficulty will disable vision dots, crosshairs and third person view. I suggest you use Veteran which gives a similar level of options to those available online. Then choose Play.
You may find that, if you've installed DaiZy before, it doesn't say Play, but instead offers Resume and Restart. Choose Restart.
Ooh, how exciting.
Right. We're in. That's it - everything's working.
Warning: if you spawn in with this skin (headset, scarf, etc), there is a problem. In trying to include more content from ArmA 2, the player skins were included. If you spawn in with this skin, you won't have a backpack or be able to pick one up. This is because backpacks weren't included in ArmA 2, but first showed up in Operation Arrowhead. There's nothing that can be done about this and I'm sorry for the hassle. All you can do is to select Restart from the menu until you appear with the normal skin and a backpack.

AI units
There are AI bandits within the game. You'll encounter then pretty much anywhere on the map and they will fire at you. They have a variety of weapons and outfits.
There are friendly AI units too. You encounter them by approaching a church in Chernogorsk or Electrozavodsk. As you get near the doors, you'll probably hear them report in and you'll see a couple of icons in the bottom right of the screen. By default they will shoot at nearby zombies and will follow you (although not too closely). You can command them as well, although it does involve using ArmA's slightly clunky order system. Full details can be found in the ArmA 2 documentation, but the basic method is to press their respective F keys and using the mousewheel menu to issue an order. For instance, if I have two companions and I want them to board a vehicle with me, I'd press F2 and F3 to highlight them and then select Get In from the mousewheel menu.
There are limitations to the AI units. Friendlies may not shoot at every zombie in sight and they probably won't fire at bandits (there's only so much that can be done within the ArmA 2 engine - remember, this is a mod of a mod of an ageing game). They can get hurt and you can heal them as you would any normal player, but they won't heal you. Just think of them as stupid and selfish friends.
Adding cheats (optional)
By default, DaiZy plays just like online multiplayer. Some players would like to use cheats to be able to spawn in units, weapons, etc.
The recommended way of adding cheats is to use the Support Call addon as written by Kronzky.
Go and download the file from the link above.
Open the zip file that you've just downloaded and extract the KRON_SupportCall.pbo file
Take this file is to copy and paste it into the Addons folder within your Operation Arrowhead program folder.
When you're playing the game, press Escape to bring up the main menu and you'll see a new button at the bottom marked Call for Support which you can press to bring up the cheat menu.
There are several sections to the menu, but I'm not going to go into them all here. You'll find pretty full documentation on Kronzky's page although you should note that not every feature will be available in DaiZy. Also note that the first time you access it, there will be a delay as it builds a list of the available equipment.
Equipment or vehicles that you request will be air-dropped near your current position.

Adding Loki's Lost Key (optional)
Loki's Lost Key adds even more cheats and it's well worth doing. It involves several steps, so I wrote a separate article for that. Click the link below:
http://kodabar.blogspot.co.uk/2012/12/how-to-install-lokis-lost-key-for-daizy.html

Removing cheats so you can play DayZ online
With the cheats installed, you will not be able to play DayZ online. Servers will complain that you have them installed. It's easy to fix this.
Go into your Operation Arrowhead program folder and find the Addons folder. Depending on which cheats you have installed, inside the Addons folder there will be one or two files called:
KRON_SupportCall.pbo
loki_lost_key.pbo
Move these out of the Addons folder (perhaps put them on your desktop) and you'll be able to play online without any problems. If you want cheats for single player again, just put them back in the Addons folder.

Troubleshooting
What if it doesn't work? I should mention that this is very much an ongoing project and that there are bugs and problems. The author of the single player file does read this page so please report any problems or bugs you encounter. Heck, let us know if you've got any ideas for inclusion in a later version.
"Cannot find..." "...content deleted..." errors
If the game complains that there is deleted content, then it's for one of three reasons:
1. The shortcut used to start the game is incorrect. Got back and make sure it has the bit -mod=@DayZ in it.
2. The game is failing to pick up on the Addons folder from ArmA 2. This is where the Chernarus level data is contained and you'll need to copy over the ArmA 2 folder to Operation Arrowhead. Go here and follow Step 4.
http://kodabar.blogspot.co.uk/2012/05/how-to-install-dayz-with-arma-2-free.html
3. You didn't update Operation Arrowhead before installing DayZ. Go to this page and follow Step 2 onwards.
http://kodabar.blogspot.co.uk/2012/05/how-to-install-dayz-with-arma-2-free.html
"CA" errors
When this error comes up, it's because you didn't update Operation Arrowhead before installing DayZ. Go to this page and follow Step 2 onwards. Continue through the other steps too. Although you may have installed the beta patch, etc already, installing the update has over-written these, so you'll need to do that again.
http://kodabar.blogspot.co.uk/2012/05/how-to-install-dayz-with-arma-2-free.html
"PMC" errors
When this error comes up, it's because you didn't update Operation Arrowhead before installing DayZ. Go to this page and follow Step 2 onwards. Continue through the other steps too. Although you may have installed the beta patch, etc already, installing the update has over-written these, so you'll need to do that again.

You've switched to a newer version of DaiZy, but you can't access the new features
Unfortunately whenever you change or update the single player mission file it tends to have problems with existing save files. You either won't be able to load the save file at all or you'll be able to load it, but you won't be able to use any of the new features or the results may be unpredictable. This also happens when there's an update for the main DayZ files as well.
The only thing you can do is to select Restart rather than Resume and lose your save file.
This is a limitation in the way that ArmA 2 works with save files and nothing can be done about that. Sorry. DaiZy is a mod of a mod of a game that's primarily designed to be an online multiplayer game, so not everything is going to work in the way we would like it.

Other versions of DaiZy
We've got a forum. There's a tab up the top of this page marked DayZ single player forum which you can click to go there or click the link below.
http://kodabar-dayz-single-player-forum.1084782.n5.nabble.com/
There are several people working on different versions of DaiZy that have features or maps that aren't in the official version. This is also the place to go to ask questions about using other maps, etc. This page is really just for installing the single player mod.
Playing around with these files does require a certain familiarity with copying and moving files around and it can sometimes be a little complicated and confusing.
If you need help, leave a message in the comments. There are many different ways in which you could have DayZ and the ArmA 2 games installed, so please try to leave as much useful information as possible.
- What version of DayZ are you running?
- Are you using a launcher (Six Play, DayZ Commander, Worrom's Updater, etc) to run the game?
- If you're getting an error message, what does it say?
- Are you using Steam?
- From where did you obtain your copies of the ArmA games?
- Are you able to run vanilla DayZ multiplayer?
It's pretty time-consuming to answer all these comments, so if you can leave information like the stuff listed above, it saves a lot of time.
I have anonymous comments enabled (I hate having to register for stuff too), but if you're going to leave an anonymous comment, please add a word or a name or something to distinguish you from all the other anonymous commenters. It can get pretty confusing trying to sort out who's who.
If you leave comments as a user/identity it asks for your email address. The only reason it does this is to send you a notification when a reply is left to your comment. I don't have any way of seeing the email addresses and they don't get given to email spammers or anything like that.
It's very kind of the single player file author to reply to comments and to provide such regular and quick updates. So please do everything you can to make his life easier.

Comments
I try to make sure that every question in the comments is answered. If you haven't had a reply after a couple of days, try asking again - I've probably just overlooked yours in the pile of others.
Note that the comments system gets a bit broken when there are over 200 comments displayed, so I regularly have to delete some of them. I do try to make sure that useful comments are left in place though.

how do u throw a grenade?
ReplyDeleteHave the grenade in your main inventory (not your backpack). Press F (you may need to press this several times) until the option to throw the grenade appears in the top right and your cursor changes to a circle then hold left click and release to throw. The longer you hold left-click, the further it goes.
DeleteNote: The F key also changes the fire mode of your gun. If, for instance, you were holding an M16, pressing F will switch between 'burst fire' and 'semi-automatic fire'
Do u launch it with the beta launcher?
DeleteYes.
DeleteI suggest copying the "Launch Arma2 OA Beta Patch" shortcut to your desktop and modifying it to include "-mod=@DaiZy" (without the quotation marks) and also "-skipintro" (again without the quotation marks) to make it load more quickly.
So just copy the "Launch Arma2 OA Beta Patch" shortcut to the desktop. Right click, select properties, move the cursor to the end of the "Target" line and add:
-skipintro -mod=@DaiZy
Then double-click that modified shortcut to launch it. Feel free to put that shortcut anywhere you like. I just suggest the desktop as an easy place to put it.
hey can i somehow make item spawning faster?
ReplyDeleteNot really. It has a default length of time it takes (which is hours). The only thing you can do is to completely empty a building of all loot (including empty tin cans and other rubbish) which will cause it to respawn sooner (but it still takes quite a while). You're best off roaming round the map.
DeleteLoot cycling is how you get it done. I have a console command written that does it now, but before that, I did the following: Lure a zed to the building you are looting and kill it. Your new buddy -- let's call him Lenny -- is going to be the receptacle for all the junk you want to cycle. Pick everything up and deposit it on Lenny's corpse. Lenny will hold the junk a while until he despawns. This way, you don't leave unsightly piles of junk all over the map. With the loot spawns clear, more things will spawn the next time you are nearby.
DeleteNowadays, I use a console command to wipe everything. Get stra_debug2.pbo and put it in the @DayZ folder wherever your ArmA2 OA application lives. This console is quite handy and makes for a fun learning tool as well. Once you have the console working put something like this in an exec line:
{deleteVehicle _x} forEach nearestObjects [position player,["WeaponHolder","WeaponHolderBase"],20];
This deletes loot on the ground for 20 meters from the center of the building you are nearest to. If you want to mark the building as having never been looted, you can execute the following:
nearestBuilding player setVariable["looted",0,true];
This last line you will find particularly useful if you change the time the wrong way or have some other bug that breaks the loot spawns. Use the scripts to grind an area, or don't, your game, play it your way. I find that it gets pretty close to killing immersion, but not quite. It's possible to be more sophisticated about which loot to delete, but I have never really needed it. Hope this helps!
I just want to say that this is an AWESOME creation! As an older gamer (40+), I've been sick and tired of being killed by teleporters and hackers 2-3 times a day easily, and this DaiZy mod totally let's me take my time and enjoy the game without someone teleporting me 1,000 feet into the air.
ReplyDeleteBeen playing on the .40 Lingor and Chernarus maps, and man...SO much fun. Even been poking around on the WIP other maps you put out.
I have a couple of requests, though; things I'd absolutely love to see if you could fit them in somehow:
-Can you alter / edit Bloodbags so they're usable on yourself, or something like that?
-Can you add bandits and survivors back to the maps? They really added a lot to the gameplay!
-Vehicles on Lingor / Helicoptor crash sites back on both?
Thanks again for this!
I agree 100% with Khardoss! I am playing .38b for the bandit fights.
DeleteMy wish list would include:
1. AI improvements including combat between the bandits/survivors/zeds.
2. More random varity with the AI gear(all survivors now have Coyote backpacks & FN FALs/M4s)
3. Helicopter crash sites (give us a reason to explore the map for better loot)
4. Predatory animals like wolves, bears, snakes etc.. (better pay attention now running through the forrest ;)
5. Medical items tweaked (blood bags on self, wolf bite causes infection. need anti-biotics to cure, epi-pen for snake bites maybe?)
I agree with the two last posts completely. Especially the blood-bag thing. There used to be a glitch in which it was possible to use a blood bag on yourself (google that if you're curious) but it only increases ones humanity level, not ones blood level.
DeleteI'd love to see more firefights btw other survivors and bandits and shit. Helicopter crashes are a must too.
Keep up the goo work ??¿¿.
Mr. 'funny'
Thanks for the requests guys! I was so impressed by your bloodbag idea I got onto it immediately!
Deleteand here it is Bloodbags for everybody!
DaiZy+ [Lingor] Update.
Small little update to add self bloodbag functionality!
Get Bloodbag,
Go to Inventory,
Rightclick the Bloodbag and select "Bloodbag Myself"
As requested by:
Khardoss, Anonymous & Mr. 'funny'!
>> Can you add bandits and survivors back to the maps?
Yes! I do have plans to add the Menus and AI to all missions eventually!
>> Vehicles on Lingor / Helicoptor crash sites back on both?
Again this is planned for all missions eventually!
Wanted to say thank you for the bloodbag update, am going to try it now, could you add the day/night timer back to the new update when you get time.
DeleteI am looking forward to the bandits being back, and vehicle/copter spanws will be very welcome
>> How do you get out of the sandbag area?
ReplyDelete>> How come i can pick up loot from the ground until i use the cheat menu?
>> When I try this, I spawn in an enclosed sandbag area. I spawn in a helicopter and fly away - into the debug plains.
>> Mine freezes on a "loading" screen for both versions :(
As I personally don't have these issues it's hard for me to locate what is causing them for you, at this point all I can sudgest is that you, delete your current save file, update to the latest beta patch and see how you get on! do you recieve any errors? try checking your %APPDATA&\Local\ArmA 2 OA\arma2oa.RPT
kodabar,
ReplyDeleteI can't figure out how the heck this Youtube dude is able to spawn stuff in Dayz using voice and just Glovepie. O_O
http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL4507DC219790AFB1&feature=view_all
Hes got new maps working too. The latest is the Hawaiian map. Have you or anyone here managed to do the same? or maybe get this guy to share?
Getting it working with new maps isn't particularly difficult, but it's not the top priority right now. In the "Experimental" section above are a selection of other maps that can be tried out - they're not complete and working by any means, but you can see the progress that has been made.
DeleteGetting GlovePie to work with DayZ also isn't terribly difficult. Have a go yourself. You can do a lot more than just use voice commands.
http://glovepie.org/glovepie.php
A while back, I tried a face tracking thing (a bit like TrackIR) using a webcam and that worked surprisingly well with ArmA 2 and DayZ. There's all kinds of things you can try.
As for the chap in the videos, I don't know what setup he's using to get single player working. There's at least one other single player effort out there somewhere, but I can't find any details about it or anything to download. Why not write to the chap from the videos? He might be willing to share.
why dont the bodyguards get in vehicles with you?
ReplyDeleteBodyguards will get in vehicles with you. It's a little confusing as they use the ArmA 2 system of command of which you probably won't have experience.
DeleteWhen you summon bodyguards, you may notice some icons along the bottom left of the screen. There's one icon for each bodyguard. Press the function keys to select each bodyguard (ie F1 for the first one, F2 for the second, etc) and you will then be able to issue orders through the mousewheel menu.
The easiest way is to get into a vehicle, press F1 (for instance) and then issue the order to "Get in". You will have to issue similar orders to get them out.
There's loads of fun to be had by issuing orders to bodyguards.
Luke Says: lol well when you said LAn I was like uh?
ReplyDeleteits been a long time since i played over a LAN, that would be amazing!
Thanks!
It's already possible to play DayZ over a LAN, but it's insanely complex to do and requires installing and running an SQL database. In the online multiplayer, the servers communicate with a central database (run by Rocket) which stores your inventory and location. So to play on a LAN, it's basically the same process as running a cracked server and involves running a central database in the same manner.
DeleteThis is rather tricky to get going and if you're not familiar with running database servers and routing connections, then it's not worth trying. There are instructions out there on various sites explaining how it's done. None of the ones I've seen are particularly well-written or clear, but you can find them if you try.
Hopefully it might be possible in the future to run LAN play in a simple manner without having to run a database at the same time. Maybe Unknown will try that, but it's not likely that it's imminent. Note: I haven't actually discussed this with him, so I don't know his plans in this area, if indeed he has any.
For SQL try the tunngle community.
Deletehttp://www.tunngle.net/community/topic/85461-dayz-1726-saintly-lingor-island-v034-server-files/
First came across info on the matter through tunngle months ago. Seemed waaaayyyy to complex and time consuming. So I found this blog instead. There IS a way of playing online, albeit is rather complex installation. I'm just crossing my fingers and hoping I'll be able to play online with the rest of the users that visit this page. Might be nice to actually play with some serious survivors instead of hackers.
Luke Says: Ive tried to update to 0.41, however it gets stuck on the "loading" screen, I have tried to remove my save files and start a new game, but it doesnt seem to work.
ReplyDeleteI just get the "loading" screen and nothing happens.
0.40 works fine as does 0.38b, strange...
Which version of DayZ are you using? I'm on 1.7.2.6 and it works fine with all of them for me.
DeleteHow does one remove the save files. Any help would be great thanks.
DeleteDocuments < Arma 2 < Saved < Missions < DaiZy_v038b.chernarus (or whatever) < (choose saved file you wish to alter/delete)
DeleteA Bandit HQ would be awesome. Maybe if they even were able to lock down a small town or something. Give them plenty of working space.
ReplyDeleteI also thought it be kinda cool if bandits were able to patrol around in pick-up trucks.
I dabble in a bit of MYSQL, maybe if this mission gets LAN support we could try run a server for a few regulars on this blog :) -wb
ReplyDeleteThis was in reply to MR Funny, sometimes it bugs ^^
DeleteI am most definitely down to run some LAN should the miss get support!
DeleteHas anyone else tried this with mods?
ReplyDeleteI've been playing .38b with COWarmod and the SMK animations mod!
Working like a charm!
COWarmod is a pack of about 300 hundred mods, so I'll only be able to list the big ones.
DeleteI'll also give the mod names incase you want them seperate.
(1)COSLX - Actual blood and gore.
(2)COSLX - Massive AI improvement(Watching bandits drag their wounded buddies away from me and give them first aid is amazing)
(3)(SMK Animations) - Cover System(Think Gears of War), Climbing over walls(Yes, climbing), rolling, combat diving, combat jog, peeking, grenade lobbing etc.
(4)COSLX - Taking prisoners(I love taking wounded bandits prisoners and make them follow me around)
(5)JSRS - MUCH MUCH MUCH better sounds. (Must be downloaded seperately)
(6)WarFX - Much better looking muzzle flares, explosions, and fire.
And much much more that I cannot remember.
It works PERFECTLY with DaiZy.
I'd recommend giving it a whirl.
Thanks for taking the time to write that list out. I'll have to incorporate some mods into Arma. I've been trying to get CLAY's carradio mod to work. So far Arma is reading the mod but I think I'd have to build a level in order for the mod to work...or am I completely wrong about that?
DeleteYes, it requires a module to be used in a level.
DeleteCOWarmod doesn't, it even has it's own wounding module so that you can injure and take bandits captive!
Niceonegunit, thanks so much for the COWarmod suggestion! The mods you described sound exactly like what I am looking for to enhance gameplay. As a new Arma2 player, I do really enjoy it's realism, slower pace, and sandbox gameplay, but compared to the extreme technical polish of Call of Duty, Modern Warfare, and Battlefield (might as well throw some props to Dead Island, Left 4 Dead, & Dead Rising too), Arma is very lacking in the graphics department and the control & animations feel a little clunky.
DeleteI am also a bit skeptical about the upcoming standalone DayZ single-player portion of the game (if it is even included) because DayZ's primary focus is online multiplayer. I think I will be playing Daizy for a long time to come... if Kodabar added local split-screen co-op (HINT-Hint) so my wife and I could snipe zombies together offline with Xbox 360 controllers, I would be playing Daizy-4-Life ^-^
Has anyone else had issus with the G17 flashlight and the military flashlight? None of them work *yes they are equipped right and its still the default "L" key* I have not tried any of the other weapons as I have not come acros the yet.
ReplyDeleteIts rough at night with just chemlights, as they don't always light up. An I ditched my other flashlight, thinking the others worked.
Point your light at the ground then press L. I still have the same issues, hope this works.
DeleteI'm running .42b on 1.7.2.6 and everything is working fine for me except for the fact that bandits have no guns. Snipers dont have any guns either and just stand there. The only weapons that spawn are AK's and the occasional pistol. Anyone have any ideas on what this could be? I've tried to downgrade to 1.7.2.5 and no change, still no guns.
ReplyDeleteI'd suggest trying 042c (remove 042b first as you won't be able to tell which is which in the menu) and starting a new game - don't load your old one.
DeleteDoes it work on Lan ?
ReplyDeleteYes. But it's not easy to get it working and I don't provide any support for that. Have a look at the forum above to see people discussing how to get that running.
DeleteWhere would the best place or way to find a group of friendly's?
ReplyDeleteGo to a church. As you enter the front door, you're likely to meet some friends.
DeleteJust picked this up today- and the only issue I have is that no matter what I do- I am unable to pick up backpacks.
ReplyDeleteArma 2 and Arma OA is at v1.62.98, have the latest beta patch (.98something?), DayZ v1.7.2.6, and using the 0.42c map :x
either on bodies or the magic box, I simply cannot pickup the coyote backpack :'(
Sorry about that. It's a problem caused by using various different skins. The mod allows for the use of all suitable ArmA 2 and Operation Arrowhead skins. Unfortunately what was forgotten was that ArmA 2 didn't support the use of backpacks - that functionality was introduced in Operation Arrowhead. So if you spawn with an ArmA 2 skin, you won't have a backpack and you'll never be able to pick one up.
DeleteThe only solution is to keep restarting until you spawn with a backpack; then you know that backpack functions are working for sure.
keep in mind this was the third set of directions that i followed to achieve dayz single player with ai bots because im so sick of hackers of multi. the other two that youtube tutorials told me it use 2.6 but in the end the didnt have ai like yours did. in your opinion should i reupdate dayz to 1.7.4.4(i think that is the latest)
ReplyDeleteAh, I see. Yeah, there are a few DayZ single player tutorials out on YouTube, but they're all concerned with keeping the original (Kronzky) version of single player running, whereas this is a completely rewritten version. I can see where the confusion comes in though and I really wish this version wasn't called DaiZy, as it's just even more confusing.
DeleteI think I'll add a section the article to specify that you should start with a recent version of DayZ.
Thanks for writing back to clear that up - it really helps to have all that information when I'm trying to sort out other people's problems.
Dumb question here...
ReplyDeleteHow the stuff do I spawn in a heli?
You need to install Loki's Lost Key to do that. There's a download link and an installation guide here:
Deletehttp://kodabar.blogspot.co.uk/2012/12/how-to-install-lokis-lost-key-for-daizy.html
Can someone please tell me why I can't find the "Launch Arma2 OA Patch" program. Do I need to install the beta or something? And I am using the DayZCommander, how do I launch singleplayer from that? Please reply with help asap, thank you.
ReplyDeleteThat's exactly it - you need to install the beta patch. Operation Arrowhead is updated regularly with small beta patches and DayZ uses them.
DeleteYou can either get the beta patch here:
http://www.arma2.com/beta-patch.php
Or in DayZ Commander go to install/update and choose the option to update ArmA 2 (yes, it's rather confusingly labelled).
You can launch the single player through DayZ Commander, but it's a little messy and you can't use the cheats. (Just attempt to join any server, but quit when you get to the lobby and select Single Player from the main menu).
You're much better off making your own shortcut (using that Launch beta thing).
Hi Do The cars spawn normaly in in the singleplayer or you have to cheat them in? can you please reply fast ?
ReplyDeleteThe cars spawn normally. They may not spawn in places you're accustomed to, but they certainly do spawn.
DeleteIt's working good but what about the other maps? (v042b).When I try to play for example Yapal or Utes,it says that I can't edit/play because it's deleted or something. Chernarus is working good!
ReplyDeleteChernarus is part of ArmA 2, so you already have it installed. For other maps, you need to install the map files as well as the single player mods for those. The easiest way to do this is to use DayZ Commander to download the map files and then install the single player mods for those levels.
DeleteYou may have to modify your game shortcut yourself to be able to load the levels. For instance, the Fallujah level requires you to add the following to your shortcut:
-mod=@DayZFallujah
These addons levels are always stored in a folder beginning with an @ symbol within your Operation Arrowhead program folder. And then you can see that you just add that folder name to your game shortcut. You can load several at a time by separating them with a semi-colon, like so:
-mod=@DayZ;@dayz_lingor;@dayz_lingor_island
http://www.dayzcommander.com/
aaa,those from "additional mods",thank you,I'll try it ;)
DeleteIs there any way to re classify the zombies as something other than civilians, possibly eliminating the problems the AI has with killing zombies?
ReplyDeleteNo, sadly there isn't - not without rewriting the whole of DayZ from scratch. It's just one of those arbitrary (at the time) decisions that was taken early on and has since created a problem. Most of the buildings, junk and loot piles are also classified as civilian so we can't do it the other way and have the friendlies go after all the civilian units or they just stand there shooting at walls.
DeleteBut some of the chaps on the forum have improved the AI to make the friendlies a little more useful. They do shoot some zombies at least. Although if my playing partners from the online version are any guide, the dumbass friendlies in single player are actually quite realistic.
Do you ever think you'll find the solution to the problem where we can't pick up bags/use them?
ReplyDeleteThe bag problem is caused by spawning as the guy with the headphones and scarf. In trying to include as many ArmA 2 objects as possible, we forgot that backpacks were only introduced in Operation Arrowhead. So if you spawn as 'headphones-guy', you'll never be able to pick up and use backpacks. The only solution is to respawn until you appear as the normal survivor model.
DeleteIt's a pain in the arse, I know, but the solution is fairly straightforward, if annoying. As the rest of the mod works just fine, I'm reluctant to have this changed for fear of introducing new errors. There are other variant of the DaiZy mod in our forum (linked to above) which do not have the same problem.
Three questions:
ReplyDeleteWhat does it mean if an AI ally's image is orange instead of green?
How can I make an AI ally stop grunting after the first time they're hit? I've given her about six blood packs, more than enough for full health...
Can I give my AI allies' different guns somehow?
The orange icon means they're out of ammunition.
DeleteAnd yeah, they'll whine and grunt when they take the slightest damage. Sadly, there's nothing you can do about this. Oh and you can't really give them different guns either. You can put guns and ammo in their backpacks (if they have them), but they're too stupid to take them out and use them.
Sadly, there are certain limitations to the AI and we're very much bumping against them. If you have a look in our forums, there are DaiZy variants which, as well as supporting other maps, have differences such as AI behaviour.
HELP why when i click on DaiZy chernerus on scenarios it says you cannot play/edit this mission it is dependable on your downloaded contentent that has been deleted.Chernarus HELP ME
ReplyDeleteIt's one of two things: either the shortcut is incorrect or it's not picking up the Chernarus content.
DeleteGo into your ArmA 2 program folder and copy the folder called "Addons" over to your Operation Arrowhead program folder. That'll probably do it.
If not, it's the shortcut. Check to make sure it's got the -mod=@DaiZy bit in it.
this works great and thanks to you i am now playing daiZy ! i cant belive how easy this was thank you so much i will be downloading your other dayz single player maps in the future and i will be telling all my friends about this! I also have to thank you for getting back to my last comment so quickly and helping me out. your advice was spot on and easy to follow, if a noob to pc modding and gaming can figure it out anyone can !thanks agian !
ReplyDeleteHow do you install other maps
ReplyDeleteGo to our forums and you'll find them in the "Unofficial releases" section.
Deletehttp://kodabar-dayz-daizy-single-player-forum.1084782.n5.nabble.com/
Note that ArmA 2 and Operation Arrowhead only come with a couple of game worlds. For others, such as Namalsk, you need to download the world files as well. The easiest way to do this is by using DayZ Commander.
Hey,
ReplyDeleteI downloaded it and followed all the steps but it says certain files are missing.
Everyone always says they followed all the steps and yet...
DeleteAnyway, what's probably wrong (I'm presuming you're getting a content deleted chernarus error) is that it's not picking up on the ArmA 2 content. Go into your ArmA 2 program folder and copy over the Addons folder to your Operation Arrowhead folder.
That should do it. If it doesn't, write back and tell me what the error messages say.
Hey,
Deleteit was that but I did what you said I think but now it says deleted.weapons, deleted.vehicles, deleted.chenarus.
Deleted weapons, etc means that either the files are in the wrong place or the shortcut is incorrect.
DeleteHow are you starting the game? With a shortcut you've edited?
And are you sure that you've placed the files in X:\wherereveryou'vegotOA\@DaiZy\Addons?
How do you instal/play other maps?
ReplyDeleteGo and take a look at the "Unofficial DaiZy Releases" section on our forum. There are multiple versions for every map depending on how you want to play. Some are without AI, some have extra features, etc, etc.
Deletehttp://kodabar-dayz-daizy-single-player-forum.1084782.n5.nabble.com/
Hey,
ReplyDeleteHow do you get other maps and where do i download these ones? I am looking for Panthera and Fallujah.
Go to our forums and you'll find them in the "Unofficial releases" section.
Deletehttp://kodabar-dayz-daizy-single-player-forum.1084782.n5.nabble.com/
There are often several versions for each map, each with different features.
This is a great experimental tool for exploring the mod! Is it possible to control the number and/or frequency of bandits and/or zombies. I'd like to experiment with lots vs fewer bandits.
ReplyDeleteThanks!
Changing the bandit spawning is not possible from within the mod. It's something that can be edited within the source files, but it's not something that most players will be able to do for themselves (it involves decompiling files, editing the source and recompiling the PBO files into a format that can be loaded by OA).
DeleteThe version of DaiZy in this article is just designed as a basic reproduction of the multiplayer experience (it's why we have cheats installed separately, for instance). But in our forums, we have a host of talented chaps who provide alternative versions with different features (eg maps other than Chenrarus are supported, cheats are built in, etc).
Many of the variations on the forum alter the way in which bandits spawn. For instance there's one where bandits spawn at a much greater distance (good for sniper practice) and another where bandits will only spawn behind you (now that makes for a heck of a challenge). Have a look through the section called "Unofficial DaiZy versions" in the forum to find one that matches the bandit spawning that you'd like:
http://kodabar-dayz-daizy-single-player-forum.1084782.n5.nabble.com/
Hello, loving DaiZy btw but,
ReplyDeleteIs it possible for you to produce the other DayZ maps apart from just Chernarus into the latest version of this "Mod" because I cannot seem to play the map versions like 0.42b on 0.42c
Already done. If you look on our forums (embedded above and linked below) you'll find a section marked "Unofficial DaiZy Releases". In that section there are multiple versions of DaiZy for every map. Some of them have extra features or handle things differently. I'm sure you'll be able to find everything you could want in there:
Deletehttp://kodabar-dayz-daizy-single-player-forum.1084782.n5.nabble.com/
I only mention the Chernarus map in this article because it's impossible to try to provide support on one page for every map and variant.
Ok, Thankyou :)
DeleteSo i came up with a problem while playing Lan, When I die, I don't respawn, it just stays at "your dead" screen and when i try respawn, it just keeps saying i died at the bottom left corner where the chat is.
ReplyDeleteI can't abort because I am the host and also when I do abort and try to go back in. It glitches. I spawn out of the map and I can't see myself.
Just letting you know what I encounter hehe :P
Thanks; I really appreciate it. I've never been able to go through all of this myself, so it's really handy to hear of your experiences when others will inevitably ask.
DeleteThere are all kinds of problems with Lan play, such as not being able to respawn. It would be nice if we could get a proper version going, but it just seems like an awful lot of time and effort for something only a few people will use that will probably become obsolete with the advent of the standalone.
Haha yeah. Also while i was playing Vechiles and Gun don't spawn ( I think ) lol. I haven't really explored inside buildings but when we do we find supplies like ammo, food, medical supplies etc, not weapons. ( haven't explored army bases and airfields. ( just drove or flew by )
DeleteAlso the zombies don't spawn while player or players in a vehicle. They only spawn when you get out. ( no biggie haha )
The standalone should be good.
If people do ask you how to make Daiyz Lan
1. You just download the testing map from your mediafire folder, ( can't remember what it's called ) it has the word "LAN" and "TEST"
I only downloaded the "chermanus" and "takistan" pbo. files
2. Put the downloaded maps on the folder Daizy/addons
3. Put the downloaded maps again on the "MPMISSIONS" folder, where ARMA 2 is located, also known as a directory lol
Should be able to play LAN with friends. maybe even threw Haimachi. (Haven't tried)
played LAN with minecraft threw Haimachi since my friend move to New Zealand haha.
Issues with LAN play
Host player: when the host dies, the game needs to be restarted if the host wants to play again
Fix: Protect the host at all cost lol
Fix 2: Maybe you can get another computer and make the host spectate? lol Just have the players play i guess haha
Spawning: When players die. It won't let them respawn.
Fix: Dissconnect from the game and back from the lobby and rejoin again. :D
BUGS
Cars and Weapons: Can't seem to find any cars and guns around. ( BUT I THINK THIS IS BECAUSE I ACTUALLY DON'T EXPLORE BUILDINGS. SOMETIMES I DO BUT FIND SUPPLIES AND AMMO )
Fix: Best to try Loki_lostkeys while playing Daizy Lan and spawn guns and ammo and explore army bases and airfields. As for cars I haven't seen any vehicles at all. But explore anyways it will spawn haha
Hey kodabar, quick question
ReplyDeleteIf I spawn troops using loki_lost keys. Will they engage zombies and bandits?? I haven't tried that, I only go to the churches and find the survivors.
thanks :)
To be honest, I can't remember. I've never actually spawned troops using it.
DeleteIf you can spawn troops through Lost Key, then they ought to attack bandits, but they might not attack zombies. The way that Rocket chose to encode zombies is a little odd (they're classed as civilians) and it makes it difficult to get AI units to attack them.
i can only choose multiplayer whats wrong?
ReplyDeleteIt's not installed correctly.
DeleteRecent versions of DayZ disable the single player menu. The files inside DaiZy+_v[Rz0].rar re-enable the single player option by over-writing some of the DayZ files. If, during the installation of DaiZy single player, you were asked if you wished to over-write some files, then you've installed the files correctly. If you weren't asked, then the files are in the wrong place.
If the files are in the right place, then the shortcut is not loading single player. Check the target line of your shortcut to makes sure it includes -mod=@DaiZy
If you still can't get it working, write back telling me where your Operation Arrowhead program folder is and paste here the target section of your shortcut.
Hey guys, Kodabar's a great, busy guy and many hours to fix my small problem with DaiZy. he has never failed to fix a problem with DayZ or DaiZy and will only start if you keep asking him questions like "I dun evryfing u sed and it dont wirk"
ReplyDeleteseriously guys is that gonna fix a problem?
How long does the day/night cycle last on your latest build? I got it installed and started playing and it was day for about 2 hours then night came. It has now been night for about 5 hours of game play, is this normal?
ReplyDeleteTime passes in real time. It gets dark around 7:30pm and the sun comes up around 5:30am. If you install the Support Call addon (details above), you can control the time and skip ahead however many hours you need to reach daytime again.
DeleteGreat mod of a mod, sure it must have been a bitch to get running. I have the steam version and am using Daisy, but when i take out the two files you mention to allow me to play DAYZ, it wont let me in keeps kicking me before i get to play screen. Also on single player ARMAII OA games the sound has gone, but it's ok in ARMAII original. Any ideas?
ReplyDeleteI have followed all instructions daizy loads even lost key and that support pack but the problem is i cant use certain items like bandages, match, food also no loot spawns and neither do zombies. But bandits do spawn .
ReplyDeleteAh, you probably haven't installed the beta patch. DayZ and DaiZy require a recent beta patch in order to work correctly. Get it from here:
Deletehttp://www.arma2.com/beta-patch.php
However, I do note that the servers are down for maintenance at the moment. You may have to wait a couple of hours.
Well damn i followed that tut at least 5 times since the servers are down i just up dated to the latest version of the beta and bam works like a charm thanks man
DeleteI wana thank you! This is great and i appreciate your effort =D!!!
ReplyDeleteOK I got a bundle of questions, 1.When i use loki's or the Kron cheat manager to spawn a car and shoot it to near explosion, when i get in it, it auto repairs (wanting to know if you could turn that off). 2.when i try to play the map tavi it says cannot find tavi.del or something like that. 3. On taki map there are no loot spawns. So sorry for the weird questions but if you could answer it would help alot. Thanks
ReplyDeleteThose are good questions.
Delete1. I'm not too sure about this one. The condition of vehicles is maintained as data by the server. In single player, we have to simulate the server and its responses. I think what is happening is that the simulated server knows of the existence of the vehicle, but is not processing its condition until you directly interact with it by getting in and then it's resetting it to a good state. I'm not sure if anything can be done about that, but I'll raise it with the guys and see if it can be handled differently in a future release. I'm not sure if anything can be done though.
2. It's probably saying something about how Taviana content has been deleted. Taviana is annoying in that there are two versions of the map files, so it's a little trickier than normal. I tend to only provide support here for the default Chernarus map as I can't cover every variant from the forums. The basic way to install DaiZy for a different map is:
a. Install the relevant map using DayZ Commander (only the Chernarus map comes pre-installed)
b. Make a folder for it called something like @MapDaiZy (it doesn't matter what it's called - @whatever will do)
c. Copy the Addons folder from the @DayZ folder to your @MapDaiZy folder
d. Copy the Addons folder from the map folder (@Taviana or @DayZTaviana in this case. It's hard to know which Taviana versions it wants, so I'd try with one and then the other if it doesn't work) overwriting files if it asks.
e. Copy the files from the file you downloaded from the forum into the Addons folder inside @MapDaiZy overwriting files if it asks
f. Copy the missions pbo file from the file you downloaded from the forum into the Missions folder
g. Make a shortcut that incudes -mod=@MapDaiZy or adding ;@MapDaiZy to an existing -mod= section (perhaps you're loading the CBA addons as well -mod=@CBA_CO;@MapDaiZy
3. I just tried the Takistan map from the forums (link below). Works fine and loot spawns. Generally the most common cause of loot not spawning is the lack of a recent beta patch. Usually when people complain of loot not spawning, they don't say what they've done to check. I can't tell if they've been all over the map and not found anything or looked in one building and given up. Playing on the Takistan map, I always spawned at the southern airfield and I found less than half the buildings had any loot in them.
http://kodabar-dayz-daizy-single-player-forum.1084782.n5.nabble.com/RELEASE-DaiZy-Takistan-With-ALOT-of-custom-cities-td2182.html
Hello kodabar, I have a problem when I play on any other map than chernarus. there's no zombies :s. How do I fix this?
ReplyDeleteFrom where are you getting these other maps? Did you get them from the forums or did you look around in the Mediafire folder where the main files were? The ones on Mediafire require very specific versions of DaiZy and were just for test purposes - you're not supposed to use those. The ones from the forum are a little more complex to install, but work perfectly.
DeleteIf I know where you got the map files from, I can tell you what's wrong. I only really provide support for the basic Chernarus map on here (imagine trying to provide detailed support for over fifty versions), but I'll talk you through fixing it anyway.
I got the file(s) from Mediafire!
ReplyDeleteAlso, the map I want to work is Takistan!
DeleteDon't use the files from Mediafire. Notice how all the maps are contained in folders labelled with numbers? That's because they were designed for specific versions of DaiZy. 042c is the release version that this article tells you how to install. It will only work properly with 042c maps. Any other maps will not work properly.
DeleteBut we have a whole forum full of maps and stuff. There are a group of people constantly creating mods with new features for every map there is. Want to play Lingor Island with AI players and base-building features? We've got that. Want to play Namalsk with extra animations and skins? Yep, that's there too.
Go to the forum and you'll find the Takistan map you're looking for. Here's the link:
http://kodabar-dayz-daizy-single-player-forum.1084782.n5.nabble.com/Unofficial-DaiZy-releases-f1086.html
whew got it pretty cool beans lol i can play offline single and online no problem
ReplyDeleteHello Kodabar, How can i switch off the AI in the V042c version?
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately it's just not that easy to do. If you have a look on our forums, there are other versions and many of the authors provide them in variants with and without AI units.
DeleteOk, thanks for your reply!
DeleteCan someone try to help me every time I change player skin lost keys dissapers.
ReplyDeleteThat's a new one. There's a few things it could be.
DeleteIf you've recently installed Lost Key, did you 'resume' an existing game rather than hitting 'restart'? ArmA gets a bit confused if you have new addons that weren't present when you began the original save game.
Do you have a recent beta patch installed? Both DayZ and DaiZy like you to have a relatively recent beta patch and it can cause unpredictable results if you don't.
Are you changing skin with Support Call? Or is this a case of clothing you've picked up as loot?
Hey, nice work!.
ReplyDeleteBut you could add some details about Steam's DayZ.
Here's the differences that got me struggling for about 5 hours to get the mod to the mod to work with my steam version.
-You CAN'T have both @DayZ and @DaiZy folders togheter under ArmA2 OA folder. Apparently, the beta launcher will load every folder with an @ on it, causing a conflict. That will make zombies, vehicles, roads, bridges, rails, port areas and nearly all loot spawning buildings not appear.
-There's no need to even create a shortcut or set launch properties. Just create the @DaiZy folder as described on the current guide, place the @DayZ folder somewhere else (like in ArmA2 OA/Backup/@dayz, works like a charm), add the mission file where it is needed to be and you're good to go.
Apparently, the devs are making the game load every @folder, so that makes it easier to add and manage mods to the game. You can (or could) select wich ones you'll wanna use from the Expansions option on the main menu.
-The rest remains unchanged. Use latest published versions of ArmA2 and DayZ, run both games, copy addons from @dayz, overwrite files from @DaiZy, etc. etc. The important is to not keep both folders under /Steamapps/common/ArmA2 OA in the same place.
-Also, DZ commander listed my DayZ files, wich I got from Steam, as corrupted. That may be because I've tried to downgrade versions in my struggle for playing. But steam, as of today, could also be handing out corrupted files.
And I just needed to say that I found this solution purely by accident. Afther trying everything, I tried running vanilla ArmA2 beta by removing the -mod=@DaiZy argument from the launch parameters to see if the problem continued, proving that verification of game cache isn't working and I needed to reinstall everything. Then I noticed even though I launched the beta version (there is ArmA2, ArmA2 OA, beta and DayZ in my library), DayZ loaded. I cleared the launch parameter line (there were just the -nosplash and -skipintro arguments at this point) and launched it again, and it lauched as DayZ again, even though Steam is not instructed to load it. Was when the solution hit me, Steam must be trying to load both mods at the same time and causing the problems I'm having. Just put away the @DayZ folder and it worked.
That may work out some problems. Enjoy.
Wow, nice work! Thanks for that.
DeleteI haven't investigated the Steam version of DayZ at all. I'll have to do that later on this week to fully understand it. No doubt people will be having trouble with it sooner or later, so it's best I figure it all out now.
Thank you so much for going to the trouble of posting your findings here. It really is a big help and I very much appreciate it.
i was on drakon island and there spawn 2 survivors with me
ReplyDeletehey i really want to play this but when i downloaded it and followed your instructions fine with no prob.... when i click on the mission it says "connat play/edit this mission; downloadable content has been deleted.zeroday"
ReplyDeleteplease help
I'm not actually sure what's wrong here; the "zeroday" bit has me confused.
DeleteNormally when it says it's missing content that's down to the shortcut being incorrect or the files being in the wrong place. But it'll say something about "dayz.weapons" or something being the missing content.
Check that you've got the files in the right place and that your shortcut is okay.
You should have copied the original DayZ files into a folder called @DaiZy in your Operation Arrowhead folder. You should then have copied the DaiZy files on top of those, over-writing them. The folder structure should be like this:
- Operation Arrowhead
-- @DaiZy
--- Addons
All the files should be in the OA\@DaiZy\Addons folder
Your shortcut must also be loading that particular folder as a mod. So it'll look something like this:
"E:\Steam\steamapps\common\arma 2 operation arrowhead\Expansion\beta\arma2oa.exe" -beta=Expansion\beta;Expansion\beta\Expansion -nosplash -skipIntro -mod=@DaiZy
Note the -mod=@DaiZy bit at the end. That's the bit that loads in the DaiZy files.
But I've never seen the "zeroday" error before, so I'm a bit confused.
If you can't get it to work, reply and paste the target line of your shortcut here. It could be that there's a simple error in there. I really should have changed the name of DaiZy to make it more distinct (and easier to spell), but oh well.
If you get completely stuck, I can usually be persuaded to use Teamviewer to fix it for people.
Just a quick word in here : the "zeroday" thing refers to the dayz_factions.pbo file. So it's usually a shortcut problem, just like any "deleted.dayz_weapons" errors and such. ;)
DeleteHey Kodabar. I remember when I got this mod I could change my skin into something non army like into a russian punk. a Russian worker. Stuff like that I have support call but it doesnt have any extras skins like that and if its in lokis lost key I can't find it. Sorry to bug you with this but do you think you could help me? (I have lokis lost key and support call)
ReplyDeleteI've never used extra skins in this and this default version on includes what's already present in the game. But there are versions on our forums that do include extra skins (and even animations). Have a look in the "Unofficial DaiZy Releases" section and I'm sure you'll find what you're looking for.
Deletehttp://kodabar-dayz-daizy-single-player-forum.1084782.n5.nabble.com/
I can particularly recommend the Chernarus Factions version. It's my favourite so far.
Thank you very much :)
DeleteWhy when I start the scenario it always says 'waiting for server response' and it took forever... Please help me & thank you
ReplyDeleteI'm afraid you'll have to give me a bit more to go on than that.
DeleteFrom where did you get your games?
Have you installed and been able to play online multiplayer DayZ?
Are you trying to install one of the forum variants or just the one in this article?
Have you got a recent beta patch installed?
How are you launching the game?
What doe the target line of your shortcut say?
well honestly it's cracked... I've tried to play multiplayer but all server didn't work for me. So I decided to play it offline and it's happen... I never try the forum variants so this is my first try to install it.
DeleteThe target line of my shortcut is : "D:\Arma 2\arma2oa.exe" (I have OA already and the ver is 1.62)
Luckily, I don't make any money from this (unless you count the tenth of a penny I get when someone clicks an ad on this page - feel free to do that if you like), so I'm not that fussed that you're using a dodgy version.
DeleteYour problem is down to the beta patch not being referenced in your shortcut. I don't know if you've got the beta patch installed or not. Check in your Operation Arrowhead program folder. If the beta patch is installed, you should have a shortcut in there marked "Launch Arma2 OA Beta Patch"
If you don't, then you're going to have to install the beta patch. I've never tried using a cracked copy of the game, so I don't know for sure if it will install or not. Give it a go though. Go here and download the latest beta patch and install it:
http://www.arma2.com/beta-patch.php
You should then have the "Launch Arma2 OA Beta Patch" shortcut in your OA program folder which you can then copy and edit to make a proper game launching shortcut. See the "Creating a shortcut" section above for exactly how to do that.
If the beta patch refuses to install (but I have no reason to think that it wouldn't) then give me a shout and I'll see what I can do to help.
I've installed the patch & now have the beta file in 'expansion' what shoul i do next sir?
DeleteChange your shortcut Target line so that instead of saying:
DeleteD:\Arma 2\arma2oa.exe
It should say:
D:\Arma 2\Expansion\beta\arma2oa.exe" -beta=Expansion\beta;Expansion\beta\Expansion -nosplash -skipIntro -mod=@DaiZy
Oh and make sure the "Start in" bit still says:
D:\Arma 2\
That ought to do it. Let me know how you get on.
It's still say 'waiting server for response" :(
DeleteThe game is in beta already and I've change the shortcut target :(
On the main title screen, it should say 1.62.something where the something corresponds to the number of the beta patch (eg 103718). Make sure it does. Also make sure you 'restart' rather than 'resume' your game.
DeleteI checking that doesn't help, then probably the quickest way to sort this is for you to run Teamviewer and I'll connect and do it for you... that is if you're fine with a complete stranger from the internet mucking around inside your computer....
Yeah it's 1.62 already....
DeleteThank you for your help, sir. Maybe I'll browsing about my problem :) thankyou :)
It'll definitely say 1.62, but it should say 1.62.103718. Make sure it does.
DeleteWhen im trying to transfer guns to my Inventory
ReplyDeleteI crash always
Can you explain a bit more?
DeleteYou're transferring guns to your inventory. Where are these guns? On the ground? Spawned by Support Call? Spawned by Lost Key? Are you transferring them to your main inventory or are you putting them in your backpack? Or are you taking them out of your backpack?
When I go to play DaiZy_v042.Chernarus in Arma 2:OA, it says "You cannot play/edit this mission; it is dependant on downloadable content that has been deleted.chernarus". How do I fix this?
ReplyDeleteGo into your ArmA 2 folder and copy the "Addons" folder and paste it into your Operation Arrowhead folder.
DeleteAlthough DayZ and DaiZy use Operation Arrowhead for just about everything, they use ArmA 2 for the Chernarus map. By copying over the Addons folder you're making sure that it picks up on it, which is what it's failing to do at the moment.
Thank you! This worked and it is greater than I thought!
DeleteHi, my DaIzy Day server is working fine, but when I go into the night variant the game crashes and I get an error (sorry, on another computer at the moment so cant say what it is).
ReplyDeleteBut how would I get this to work?
Other than that great job
(Its Chernarus)
Thanks
Hmm. That's odd. I'll need to know the error message to be able to help (post an update here when you can). I haven't tried all the variants we have on the forums, so I can't comment comprehensively. But let me know what version you're using and what error you're getting and I'll see about reproducing it and finding a way to get it fixed.
DeleteThanks, Will do.
DeleteIs there the normal Day/night cycle in the normal Daisy mission? as in the one where it is day? Because if so, I can just use the Support call feature (Im sure...)
Yep, there's a normal day/night cycle in the standard version and you can indeed just use SupportCall to skip ahead.
DeleteHi how do you heal survivors as mine are all dying and i cant figure out how! please help URGENT!
ReplyDeleteAnnoyingly, you can't heal them. They don't have a health system like your character - it's one of the limitations of using bots. Sorry.
DeleteOn our forums (linked to and embedded above) some of our programmers have had a go at implementing friendly AI units in a different way. I know the chap working on the 'Factions' variant was particularly interested in doing something with health. He was trying to get AI units to heal the player character. Worth a look perhaps.
ahh damn. so there is no way of healing them atm even with extra mods for it?
DeleteNope. The way the health system is handled in DayZ is different to the way it works in the ArmA games. Although there are some things in common (e.g. broken bones), they don't have things like blood so it causes incompatibility with other mods and addons. Sorry. It is something we have looked at but, as with most of the limitations to DaiZy, it's all down to the way Rocket programmed DayZ and there's no getting around that.
DeleteHowever, it is pretty easy to replace your AI friends...
ok thanks for the help but one last thing sorry. I'm trying to download the support call feature but when i go into my operation arrowhead folder there's no addons folder? what do i do? :S
DeleteIf DaiZy works just fine without you having an Addons folder in your Operation Arrowhead folder, just make one to stick Support Call in.
DeleteDayZ and DaiZy use Operation Arrowhead for just about everything, but they get the Chernarus map files from ArmA 2. In some cases they don't pick up on the ArmA 2 content (you'd get 'content deleted Chernarus' errors on startup) and the easy solution is to copy over the Addons folder from ArmA 2 to OA. You're not having that problem, so just make an Addons folder in the OA folder for the Support Call file.
I can not download v042b for v1.7.2.6 [RL] \ DaiZy_v042.Lingor.pbo (287.3 KB) http://www.mediafire.com/?2x7fjv7242i8hv8
ReplyDeletePlease, throw on another file sharing
If you want to play Lingor, you really shouldn't download that one. It's for version 042b of DaiZy, whereas the current version is 042c. You would need to install the 042b version of DaiZy.
DeleteYou're better off going to our forum and downloading one of the versions from there:
http://kodabar-dayz-daizy-single-player-forum.1084782.n5.nabble.com/Unofficial-DaiZy-releases-f1086.html
But if you really want that file, here it is on DropBox:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/v7dwsgzs6s80m8b/DaiZy_v042.Lingor.pbo
Hey Kodabar, I have your mod, supportcall, lokis lostkey and Factions mod. I was wondering if you knew how to spawn in controllable friendly AI???
ReplyDeleteThanks
Talk about that on the forums (no registration necessary) in the thread for Factions. I mostly offer support on here for installing the basic version. There are so many variations that I can't provide support for them all.
DeleteHi Kodabar,
ReplyDeletefor some reason there NO zombies and NO bandits except friendly ones.
What could I do to fix this?
A lack of zombies is normally down to not having a recent beta patch installed. I'd try installing a more recent one: http://www.arma2.com/beta-patch.php
DeleteIf that doesn't work, write back and tell me some more details like where you got your games, whether you can play DayZ online or not, etc.
If anyones having a problem with starting the mpa with the error ".chernarus (ect...) was not found" or something along those lines make sure you're launch options are: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\arma 2 operation arrowhead\Expansion\beta\arma2oa.exe" -beta=Expansion\beta;Expansion\beta\Expansion -nosplash that includes the (") HAPPY HUNTING
ReplyDeleteHey Kodabar, I've been following the single player mod for a while now and have had plenty experience on how frustrating it is and appreciatte what you're doing. The other reason I'm posting is because of the tavianna map issues. I succsefuly managed to run the map by downloading it on dayzcommander then moving the files into the daizy addon folder (deleting tavinnas versions of the duplicated files such as its code.pbo) I ran around for a while hwowever and no vehicles spawned, and i mean None! I had this problem for a while and checked out utes as its the smallest map, after a fruitless search i went afk and when i got back vehicles had spawned around me. I deducted that its just taking a while to load it but its frustrating as hell, any ideas?
ReplyDeleteLuckily enough, I've just made a video about installing other maps for DaiZy and the one I chose for an example is Taviana.
Deletehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZBQTqiRHSuI
Tell me which Utes map from the forum you're using and I'll take a look at it.
Its not just utes its all of them, the veghicles just psawn randomly in the rare event they do dpsawn, also i only get certain loot, like only akms and beans, i must be a clash with my file i'll try re installing everything
DeleteDo you have a recent beta patch installed? Often problems with spawning are caused by not having a recent beta patch. After installing an updated one, it's best to 'restart' rather than 'resume' your game otherwise there will be no difference.
DeleteThese single player versions are designed to mirror the official servers rather than edited private hive ones. On official servers vehicles are rare indeed. It's not like on one of those servers with 200 vehicles added to them. The spawn locations are more random than in online play (because there isn't a server keeping track of all this).
But the loot problem is a concern - you should find a variety of loot. Different types of loot tend to spawn in different places. Industrial buildings tend to have tools and vehicle parts, military buildings may have military weapons and ammo. Residential buildings will never spawn anything better than civilian weapons.
No i fully understand how rare vehicles are and have their spawn points listed, but they dont spawn there for example i sat still in chernogorsk and busses starting spawning on a hill as well as a huey in the middle of the road, the loot is definitely bugged, there arent even tin cans:\ theres only a select few things, reinstalling things didnt help ill check the beta patch option adn let you know what happened i'll also try removing loki as well. cheers for the help
DeleteI think ive removed them all and its still the same, vehicles spawns are completely random, and loot is restricted, I made sure of this by checking as mab=ny heli crashes as possible all guns were missing, just some generic junk loot and then on one i found a rare m24 by itslef. I moved arma 2 files into the Ao addons folder (as suggested by someone)to get the game working, would this cause a clash?
DeleteHmm, this is odd. I can't think why this would be happening. Sadly, helicopter crash sites don't work properly in this version and only spawn normal loot.
DeleteI know it's a hassle, but would you be willing to try out his different version from our forums? This Factions version has better AI handling and a few extra features, but is otherwise the same.
http://kodabar-dayz-daizy-single-player-forum.1084782.n5.nabble.com/RELEASE-DaiZy-Chernarus-1-7-6-1-FACTIONS-1-4-05-04-UPDATED-w-improved-Building-script-td4144.html
Cheers, I'll give it a shot, cant find the download link for the latest one, will try an old one
DeleteUgh it wont even work. Its almost definitely a problem with the addons folder were i copied the original arma 2 files. They're probably clashing with the Oa and Dayz files. The reason they are there is because i get the error "requires chernarus.pbo" or something like that if they arent there. Any suggestions on what to do now?
DeleteI've uploaded a copy of my Addons folder. It's quite large, but you can download several files at a time from Mediafire without an account, so it's not so bad. But I had to split it into 37 parts.
Deletehttp://www.mediafire.com/?d56c2snxgdwg0
Well I hope no one asks how is spent my weekend. Unfortuantly still nothing, as i said i had past experience with my game and had made some tweaks to my common folder which might have screwed up the game. Theres no way in hell i'm expecting you to put all those files up on media fire, but if you could pop up maybe just a list of the files (not the files themselves) or even better clue me in on where to get a new common folder. Sorry for being the bane of your existence;)
DeleteTo be fair, I don't know if my Common folder is 'pure' or not. I think it is, judging by the file dates, but I've got so many test versions and half completed things (the perils of supporting all this) in my installation folders that it's jolly hard to tell what's what.
DeleteHere's a list of the files in my common folder:
http://www.mediafire.com/view/?ln7jz1nev45yfdn
Hi Koda, just wondering how I administer a blood bag to one of my friendly units? :)
ReplyDeleteSadly, that's one of the things you can't do. The health system of the ArmA games is very different from DayZ. There's no blood in ArmA, that's just for DayZ. So sadly the AI units are effectively ArmA units and don't have blood. Only you have blood.
DeleteIt's a bit frustrating, I know, but there's just nothing can be done about it. But AI friends are easily replaced.
Hi Koda :D, Everytime when I click play after it loads I get this message "you cannot play/edit this mission it is dependable on your downloaded contentent that has been deleted. Dayz_anim (and a bunch of other ones) I have the retail arma 2 so Arma 2 and Arma 2 OA are in the same folder. So the addons file is already there.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Cody
That error means either the files are in the wrong place or the shortcut is incorrect.
DeleteYou should have made a folder in your ArmA 2 and OA program folder called something like @DaiZy. Inside that you ought to have placed the Addons folder copied from the @DayZ folder. Then you should have placed the files from our RAR file into the same place, over-writing a couple of the DayZ files.
All that talk of folders is a little confusing. Essentially, all the files should be in ArmA 2\@DaiZy\Addons
That folder should contain at least 8 files:
dayz.pbo
dayz_anim.pbo
dayz_code.pbo
dayz_communityassets.pbo
dayz_equip.pbo
dayz_sfx.pbo
dayz_vehicles.pbo
dayz_weapons.pbo
There may be as many as 17 files in there (including all the .bisign files), but those 8 above must be there.
If they're all there, then check that your shortcut is correct. It's easy to make a mistake in the spelling. It doesn't matter what you call the @DaiZy folder, just as long as you use the same name in the shortcut. Make sure it does say -mod=@DaiZy (or whatever you called it). I've seen many errors where people have got a couple of letters the wrong way round and ended up with -mod=@DiaZy or something similar.
Have a go and, if you're still stuck, get back to me. I haven't left anyone without a working copy yet.
Wow thanks for replying so soon :D. Okay I went into Expansions and enabled DayZy and that seemed to of worked. Thanks for the reply. :D Just a question do vehicles spawn? Thanks.
DeleteAh, glad to hear you got it working.
DeleteVehicles do spawn, but not always in the same places as online multiplayer.
There are also AI bandits and AI friendly units. You'll encounter bandits all over the place, but there are only a few locations you can find friendly units. Walk up to a church in Cherno or Electro and you'll find some. Command them with F2, F3, etc to select them and use the mousewheel to give them orders - by default they'll follow you around.
Okay, after installing CBA and Lost keys or whatever its called :P My game freezes when I get to where I have to select my gender for the character.
ReplyDeleteevery time i try using it it says that weapons vehicles and equip are deleted
ReplyDeletehow do i fix this please

this sucks dont use it i hate this cant play dayZ anymore ive tried every thing
ReplyDeleteI can appreciate you're frustrated, but you certainly haven't tried everything. I can talk you through getting it fixed up so you can play both on and offline. I help every person who has any problems or questions. I've never left anyone without everything fully working. Sometimes I can even be persuaded to set it all up for them using Teamviewer.
DeleteWhen you try to play online, what happens? Do you have separate icons for online and offline play?
When I start the it with following the instructions of you i cant play on chernarus only on desert and it says the whole time "requesting charackter data from server" and i dont know what to do else ? :(
ReplyDeleteIf I had to guess (and I do, because I don't know anything else about your installation) I'd say you need to install a recent beta patch; then 'restart' rather than 'resume' your game.
DeleteIf that doesn't help, tell me from where you got your games, whether you can play DayZ online, if you've copied your Addons folder from ArmA 2 to Operation Arrowhead, etc.
-I copied the "Add0ns" folder from ArmA 2 to my OA folder
Delete- get from steam
and i can still play DayZ online
thy for quick answer ;)
Did you try installing a newer beta patch?
Deletehttp://www.arma2.com/beta-patch.php
Although to be honest, if you're able to play online, then you probably do have a recent enough beta patch.
There is one slightly unusual thing to try. At the main menu, go to "Player profile" and create a new one. Make sure it's selected (ie has the flashing highlight) and try to 'restart' rather than 'resume' your game.
Hi, can anyone help?
ReplyDeleteI am trying to add the Loki lost key addon but the game keeps crashing when i select continue/ new game. I have never had the game crash before and dont know what to do.
I have the @CBA_CO file in common > arma 2 operation arrowhead. I have loki_lost_key.pbo in common > arma 2 operation arrowhead > Addons
My target location is "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\arma 2 operation arrowhead\Expansion\beta\arma2oa.exe" -beta=Expansion\beta;Expansion\beta\Expansion -nosplash -mod=@DaiZy;@CBA_CO
I have also tried -mod=@CBA_CO
Thanks
You're doing everything correctly. Your files are in the right place and your short cut is as it should be. You could add a -skipintro to make the game load more quickly, but it's not necessary.
DeleteThe bad news is that, without an error message, it's jolly hard to say what could be causing this. There are a few things you can try:
1. You mention it crashes when you try to continue a game. I think it's also crashing when you begin a new one, but I can't be sure from the wording. Try to 'restart' rather than 'resume' if you haven't already.
2. Does it run without the lost key file in place? Just move it to your desktop or somewhere and run it with the CBA files still there and included in the shortcut.
3. Are you running any other addons? Go into the main menu and check in the "Expansions" section. Disable anything extra that you don't need.
4. I presume you're using a recent beta patch, but maybe not. Steam won't install that for you and you absolutely need a recent one in order to run DayZ or DaiZy. You can see what version you're running from the main menu. In the bottom right corner it'll say something like 1.62.XXXX where XXXX is the number of the beta patch.
http://www.arma2.com/beta-patch.php
5. The game generates a crash log. It's a big file and makes for unpleasant reading, but it will tell you what the game was trying to do when it crashed. The file is called arma2oa.RPT and it's in
C:\Users\"your windows username"\AppData\Local\ArmA 2 OA\
Have a go and see what you can find. I should also point out that Support Call does a lot of the things that Lost Key does. You might find it does everything you want anyway.
Thanks for the reply.
Delete1. yes i have tryed to start a new game and am getting the same problem.
2. Yes i had been playing DaiZy SP for about a week with the standard cheats before trying to add the Lost Key.
3. No the only addons i have for Arma Is Dayz and DaiZy.
4. Yes I have been using the most recent beta patch (i think) 1.62.95248?
Since Installing the lost key i have had to reinstall Arma and Arma II to stop the game from crashing and now am having new problems. After installing Arma I ran the game as admin to the main menu Then installed Arma II And ran to the main menu.
At the main menu I have noticed that in the top right corner under where it says Arma II it has Dayz in small. I don't understand why this is here as i have not got Dayz installed yet (But i do have dayz commander) Anyway the game is not crashing now. So next i installed Dayz and DaiZy. put all the right files in all the right locations, but when I try to change my target location on the Arma II shortcut it is claiming that the target box is not valid. I have noticed that on the screen shots you have up, the target box is different to mine (see below)its the Arma2OA.exe i dont think i had that before reinstalling the game. So i have tryed adding the -mod=@DayZ in different locations and cant figure it out.
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Arma 2 Operation Arrowhead\ArmA2OA.exe"
It should read "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\arma 2 operation arrowhead\Expansion\beta\arma2oa.exe" -beta=Expansion\beta;Expansion\beta\Expansion -nosplash
Yes?
thanks
Ah, well I can see that your beta patch is a little out of date. You need at least 100697 to be able to use the CBA addons (this is because of a recent update to CBA). I would recommend you use 103718 (annoyingly, the very latest beta patch has problems too) which you can get from here:
Deletehttp://www.arma2.com/beta-patch.php
Now the shortcut problem. I generally suggest that people alter the "Launch Arma2 OA Beta Patch" shortcut which you find in your Operation Arrowhead program folder. The beta patch doesn't actually overwrite anything, it puts an exe file in a sub-folder and creates a shortcut that points to it.
So your standard Operation Arrowhead shortcut read something like:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Arma 2 Operation Arrowhead\ArmA2OA.exe"
(Note the quotation marks. Windows gets a bit confused by anything with a space in it, so it places quotation marks around such things so it knows where they start and end. One of the most common reasons for Windows complaining about invalid targets is because of a missing or misplaced quotation mark)
The beta patch shortcut looks like this:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\arma 2 operation arrowhead\Expansion\beta\arma2oa.exe" -beta=Expansion\beta;Expansion\beta\Expansion -nosplash
Notice that it points to an arma2oa.exe in a sub-folder. The beta patch doesn't over-write your existing game exe, just puts a new one in a sub-folder, so the shortcut points there instead. Again, note the positioning of the quotation marks. It also adds a bit of guff to the end to tell the game that it is loading the beta patch version. Anything outside of those quotation marks is ignored by Windows and is instead passed to the game.
So the modified version of the shortcut, including the references to the CBA addons and DaiZy, would read:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\arma 2 operation arrowhead\Expansion\beta\arma2oa.exe" -beta=Expansion\beta;Expansion\beta\Expansion -nosplash -skipintro -mod=@DaiZy;@CBA_CO
Note that I also include a -skipintro bit. This isn't necessary, but it tells the game not to load the fancy title screens and main menu background, making the game start up much more quickly.
Is there a way to get rid of radio? I really don't want cheats in my game (Magic box), cause my mind keeps forcing me to use it all the time!!!
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean. If it's there you feel tempted to use it or end up using it without even thinking. The default version on this page doesn't have the radio - you have to manually add cheats. Other versions are down to the various authors and many of them will have cheats. I don't have a list of which does and doesn't I'm afraid.
Deletewhy doesnt it go nighttime? its day all the time :( please help
ReplyDeleteIt does have a normal day/night cycle. If you've got a watch in the game, you'll see what time it is. Sunset is around 7pm and sunrise is around 5am. But the game plays in real-time, so it takes many hours to get dark. You can speed up this process using the Support Call addon.
DeleteI followed the instructions and installed everything correctly but I cant play. It just freezes at the screen where there is a small DaiZy logo and "loading" in red underneath.
ReplyDeleteDo you by any chance have beta patch 104648 installed? If you go to the main menu, you'll seein the bottom right it says 1.62.XXXX where XXXX is the number of the beta patch.
DeleteIt seems that 104648 has introduced an incompatibility with the CBA addons (particularly annoying as CBA is used by dozens of other ArmA mods) which causes freezing when the game loads.
Sorry for the late response.I have 1.62.103419, so no i do not have beta patch 104648
DeleteHmm. You should be okay, yet you still get the freezing. I don't know what's wrong.
DeleteI would suggest that you try installing the Factions version from our forum. It's still Chernarus but has a few extra features. If that doesn't work, then I think your problem might be to do with the game itself.
Here's a link to the Factions version.
